Uranium Glass Detected With The Ranger

From time to time, we find customers who use our products in exciting and unique ways. Meet Michael at Patriots Antiques. Michael uses the Radiation Alert Ranger® to help detect uranium in antique glassware. Here are some great things he had to say about our instruments:

Michael has a thriving eBay account where he resells uranium glass antiques. 

Uranium glass, also known as Vaseline glass, is glass that has uranium added to the mixture during the molten period when color is added. Uranium glass became popular in the mid-19th century, reaching a height of popularity from 1880s to the 1920s.

 

Michael spoke on how he first came to find our Radiation Alert® product line, “I’m a military veteran who worked in electronics with the Coast Guard. I once had the chance to use one of your Ranger Geiger counters in the past and have been fascinated since.”

 

“I’ve owned other Geiger counters for this hobby… although they function well, the Ranger was so much more ergonomic and easier to navigate with all the functions.” He continued, “It also works the best with the light-up display for my UV pictures!”

“Within the last few months, I can think of a couple group friends whom I convinced to buy Ranger’s just like me!”
