I noticed there are different versions of The Inspector on the market. How can I determine I am buying an Radiation Alert model?
In the late 1980s S.E. International, Inc. entered into collaboration with International Medcom of Sebastopol CA. Together we successfully produced the first small handheld survey meter with a built-in 2-inch pancake Geiger tube. For many years and for both companies, S.E. International, Inc. was the original and sole manufacturer of the brand named “Radiation Alert® […]
What is the difference between the Inspector and the newly revised version, The Inspector+, that you now offer in place of the original Inspector?
The Inspector+ has a settable alarm and better accuracy.
What is the lowest detectable energy level of the Inspector?
The Inspector detects x-rays and gammas down to 10 KeV through the end window and down to 40 KeV through the sidewall.
How many data points can be stored in the internal memory of the Inspector USB?
Total 1356. At 1 minute intervals, that’s 22.6 hours. At 10 minute intervals, that’s 226 hours (9.4 days) At 1 hour intervals, that’s 1356 hours (56.5 days)
When I put the Inspector USB in total mode, why does it not accumulate the total counts?
The latest version of the Inspector USB requires that the timer be set prior to accumulating total count. To take a timed count, follow these steps: With the Inspector operating, set the Mode switch to Total/Timer. The display shows 0 and Total in the upper left portion of the display. Press the SET button on […]
I have a reading on my Inspector that’s lower than what’s stipulated in the specifications. Is it correct?
The Inspector specifications state that the lowest reading is .01 µSv/hr. If you have a reading lower than .01 µSv/hr, it may be an accurate reading, however, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of a reading that low.
I’m using an SEI Inspector family detector to detect pulses from an x-ray pulse generator but it doesn’t seem to be detecting anything. Why is that?
Due to the short pulse width of some x-ray pulse generators, Gieger Mueller counters cannot detect X-rays emitted. The Inspector may start to miss counts when a pulse width gets below 40 microseconds. Typically, it is recommended to use ionization chambers for this application.
What is the lowest levels of radiation that the Digilert 50 can detect?
The Digilert 100 detects alpha down to 2.5 MeV; typical detection efficiency at 3.6 MeV is greater than 80%.
How many data points can be stored in the internal memory of the Digilert 200?
Total 1356. At 1 minute intervals, that’s 22.6 hours. At 10 minute intervals, that’s 226 hours (9.4 days) At 1 hour intervals, that’s 1356 hours (56.5 days)
