Radiation Alert® WipeTest Plates

The Radiation Alert® Wipe Test Plate is a precision wipe (smear) sample holder accessory. Designed for use with Radiation Alert Ranger® radiation survey meters. Constructed from durable stainless steel, the plate, Slides securely onto the rear of the instrument, positioning the wipe sample directly in front of the Geiger‑Müller (GM) tube window at a fixed distance of 1 centimeter for consistent and repeatable measurements.

Accurate Swipe Positioning & Flexible Use

The fixed geometry of the Wipe Test Plate ensures uniform sample‑to‑detector spacing, improving the reliability of contamination measurements during wipe testing. The plate is fully removable, allowing the Ranger® meter to be quickly returned to general radiation surveying when wipe testing is complete.

Many users also employ the Wipe Test Plate as a beta shield for the Ranger’s 2‑inch GM detector, providing additional versatility in contamination monitoring applications. (Patent No. 5,936,246)

Designed for Regulatory Wipe Testing

The Wipe Test Plate is commonly used with radiation test swipes (smears) to evaluate surface contamination in accordance with NRC and Agreement State regulations. When used together, the system supports routine contamination surveys, compliance monitoring, and contamination control programs.
